How can I model a drilling schedule?

PetroVR offers a number of tools for modeling a drilling schedule, to be used depending on the approach you choose.

The standard procedure is to define all the wells separately and assign them to Well Drilling and Well Completion jobs. In this case, each well will be represented by a node in the Tree View.

Alternatively, you can create just a few prototype wells and assign them to a cloning-type job (Well & Facility Cloning, Automatic Development or Infill Drilling). In this case, only prototypes will be represented by nodes in the Tree View.

In the standard procedure the actual time of the drilling is determined by the start dates of the Drilling and Completion jobs. These are in fact macro-jobs, since they can include any number of wells, which they can handle sequentially or in batches.

Both in standard Drilling/Completion jobs and in cloning jobs PetroVR will attempt to drill each well in their list as soon as the conditions are met - i.e. that a Rigs unit is available to perform the task. However, you can apply Defer Drilling Excess Policy strategies in order to slow down the pace according to the available processing capacity in your production line.
